Spike in accident deaths involving motorcycles this year in Illinois

| According to Illinois State Police, accidents are on the rise this year, up 54% in some counties compared to last year.
What is causing the increase? Alcohol and speeding are among the leading factors, but authorities also noticed how many of these fatal accidents involved motorcycles.
In an effort to curb future accidents and road fatalities, Illinois State Police and other law enforcement officials in northern Illinois hosted news conferences and ad campaigns to get a stronger road safety message to the people. Their hope is to caution motorists and make them aware of the dangers of speeding, driving impaired, and driving distracted.
