An 11-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a Honda Civic with his sister, mother, and one other in the backseat when he ran a stop sign, causing a tragic accident that killed his family and critically injured the passenger of the other vehicle.
What investigators are trying to figure out now is why the young boy was driving in the first place. According to those who knew her, the boy’s mother was always, “very responsible and very involved,” with her children. This observation made the fact that neither the mother or the younger sister were wearing a seat belt even more shocking to friends of the family.
The driver of the other vehicle was fortunate enough to walk away from the accident, but the fourth passenger from the Civic remains in critical condition at a local hospital. No charges have been filed as of yet as California Highway Patrol is still waiting to speak with the hospitalized passenger.
