Arizona family files wrongful death suit over drunk-driving crash
Posted on November 3rd, 2009 by Zane Cagle
The family of an Arizona man killed in a tragic car accident involving an intoxicated driver filed a wrongful death suit against the driver and her parents. The driver has already been convicted of negligent homicide for the December 2008 accident. The plaintiff is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages from the defendants. The driver’s parents are named due to the fact that they allowed their daughter to drive their car. Prosecutors in the criminal trial claimed that the defendant was drunk and driving at a high rate of speed when she collided head on into the victim’s car. Police took the defendant’s BAC level a hour and a half after the crash, and she registered at 0.157, nearly twice the state legal limit.
