The family of a Colorado woman has filed a wrongful death suit against a state nursing home in Trinidad, Colorado. The family alleges that the staff’s negligent care resulted in the woman’s death, who suffered from dehydration, malnutrition and complications due to a pressure ulcer before dying in October 2007.
According to the plaintiff’s complaint, her ailments were a direct result of the care she received at the nursing home, which was more concerned about the $5,000 allotment per resident from the state than patient health. Furthermore, her mistreatment and death were the result of “knowing and/or intentional actions” by the nursing staff and administrators.
