Construction worker knocks over utility pole, kills coworker
Posted on August 3rd, 2009 by Zane Cagle
An Iowa construction worker was killed last week in a tragic accident when another employee backed into a utility pole, knocking it over and crushing him. At the time of the accident, the employee was operating a bobcat skid-loader at a residential site when he bumped a utility pole on the sidewalk. The collision caused the pole to fall over onto a parked truck and fatally struck the victim, age 32.
Accident investigators believe the victim had been reaching into the truck to grab something when the pole fell. It remains unknown, however, why the pole fell so easily when the bobcat hit it.
