Fatality on Interstate 44
A 31-year old Jennings, Missouri man was killed in an auto accident on Interstate 44 near Laclede Station Road in St. Louis, Missouri. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the man was traveling eastbound on I-44 when he struck the back of a road maintenance truck that was placing reflective blocks on the highway.
The driver of the MoDOT truck sustained some injuries.. The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when visibility was low. According to officials, both drivers were wearing their safety belts.
Accidents on I-44 are frequent and can be deadly in nature as motorists are usually traveling at a high rate of speed simply because it is an interstate. When cars collide with larger trucks, the car drivers are usually at a disadvantage. As holiday travel picks up, motorist must be extra cautious of fellow drivers, road maintenance, and traffic congestion.
