A 39 year-old man from Naperville, Illinois was killed in a motorcycle crash with a SUV last Friday. According to officials, the motorcyclist was driving a 2005 Ducati and sideswiped a 2003 red Ford Explorer. The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle after colliding into the SUV and swerved into a curb. While the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital, his traumatic injuries proved to be fatal. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. Officials allege that excessive speed and alcohol by the motorcyclist contributed to the accident, however, investigators are continuing to gather information. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia, of the 5,312 biker fatalities in the U.S. in 2008, 135 of those motorcyclist lost their lives within the state of Illinois.
