Head-On Crash in Northern St. Louis
A two-vehicle head-on crash has killed one man and injured a woman. The auto accident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. early Friday morning near Goodfellow Boulevard and Natural Bridge Avenue.
A 26-year old man was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on Goodfellow when he attempted to pass another vehicle. The driver swerved over two lanes and into the path of a southbound Grand Prix driven by a 24-year old woman. The man was trapped inside his vehicle and later died. The female driver and an unidentified passenger initially walked away from the crash and the driver was located by the police. She was later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Accident reconstructionist are investigating to determine the factors involved and possible causes for the crash.
As a personal injury attorney, I work with victims of violent crashes such as this. As well, low impact crashes can also cause life changing injuries. Many assume if the auto accident was not bad then the injuries sustained could not be serious. This is far from fact. If you are in an auto accident, it is wise to go to the emergency room immediately for x-rays and tests to be certain you have not sustained a serious injury.
After a crash, individuals can be in shock and not realize the extent of their injuries. It is a mistake to wait until the following weeks to see a medical provider as head injuries can easily be mis-diagnosed by the victim. Traumatic brain injuries can worsen if not addressed immediately. While the auto accident above will have to be investigated further to determine the causes including possible use of alcohol or distracted driving factors like texting, it is a safe and general rule to seek medical assistance first and consult an attorney. Immediately after a crash, attorneys at The Cagle Law Firm are able to secure evidence that might otherwise be disposed of. As well, Zane T. Cagle works with accident experts for reconstruction and thorough investigation of all factors influencing the accident. Driver fatigue, distraction and carelessness are all common causes of auto accidents. If a driver is negligent and you suffer injuries as a result, Zane T. Cagle can pursue damages and compensation. Insurance companies as a rule will not offer you nearly as much in a settlement without legal representation.
