A six year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a car involved in a Los Angeles Police high-speed chase. Los Angeles Police were chasing a suspect they had witnesses making a drug deal. The suspect lost control of his car in a residential area and struck the little girl and pinned her against a stone wall. The tragic pedestrian accident occurred Thursday evening. The six year-old sustained serious injuries and died at the hospital. Two passengers in the suspect’s car were taken into custody; however, the driver fled the scene and has not been apprehended. The officers witnessed the suspect flinging a gun from the car during the chase.
While criminal charges may follow against the driver and or passengers, there are also civil suit possibilities regarding wrongful death. Another possible claim is property damage. Families can file a suit for wrongful death due to the negligence of the drivers in this type of situation. It is important for injured parties to seek legal counsel to ensure they are getting the maximum compensation they deserve.
