Four Illinois residents filed a 12-count lawsuit in Madison County this month over a drunk driving accident that sent them all to the hospital with upper body injuries. The plaintiffs’ were riding in a car when the defendant failed to yield at an intersection and struck the vehicle. As a result of the collision, all four people incurred medical expenses and lost wages and experienced pain, suffering and disability. Their suit claims that defendant was negligent and under the influence of alcohol which impaired his driving. The suit also named Schnucks under Illinois’ Dram Shop Law, making them liable for selling him the alcohol he consumed before the accident.
