If You Are Injured in a Motor Vehicle Collision….

If you are injured in a car crash, obviously seek immediate medial attention. The days and weeks following a crash can be confusing as well as painful. You should not discuss your injuries right away with any insurance adjuster for a number of reasons.

One, if you are injured, you are probably taking medication that may impair your ability to accurately remember facts; therefore, you should not be giving statements to insurance adjusters. Second, if you are hurt, you do not generally know the full extent of your injury for quite sometime. While you may initially be seen in the emergency room for an injury, you may require follow up medical treatment to fully diagnose and treat your injuries. Some aches and pains are part of the incident, but pain that lingers should be addressed and in the first few days after a crash, you just don’t know the full extent.

Furthermore, we all heal differently. Depending on your injury, age and treatment, you may heal very differently that someone very similar to you. Since you nor your attorney can predict the future, it is best not to discuss the extent or even your “theory” about your injuries with an insurance adjuster.

If you’ve been hurt or if a loved one has been injured or killed, you should consult one of our attorneys immediately.
