A Celebrity’s Bus and Semi-Truck Colide
A celebrity was injured as well as 6 other people in an Illinois bus accident and truck accident on Interstate 70 in Vandalia, Illinois on Thursday. Fayette County officials first responded to a report of a crash involving an overturned semi truck. While investigating the initial accident, officers said a second collision involving a bus and the disabled semi truck.
Six people were injured in the crash. A celebrity known for staring in the Nikelodeon show “iCarly” was reported to have a broken ankle. Other passengers on the tour bus reported no injuries. The 46-year old semi truck driver was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital and is listed in fair condition. Two people that stopped to help the semi truck driver were also injured. The driver of the tour bus was also treated at a St. Louis hospital.
The accidents remain under investigation at this time. Multiple accidents occurring in a short stretch of highway are more common than many think. This attorney has blogged in the past about semi truck crashes that occur in multiples. A crash sometimes triggers the second and third crash for a variety of reasons. When a crash occurs, other drivers may not have reaction time to avoid a second collision or the other drivers may not have seen the collision or disabled car or truck in order to slow down and avoid a subsequent crash.
Unfortunately, we see this more often than we would like to. We have visited with many people over the years that have been victims of multiple car crashes due to vehicles being disabled on the side of the road. In our previous blog, we have discussed some other incidents on Interstate 70 where tragic deaths and serious injuries occurred due to a vehicle being disabled on the side of the road.
Being a frequent traveler on Interstate 70 and other major highways in Missouri and Illinois, I have had personal ordering paxil online experience with a blow out on my car in heavy semi truck traffic. It was a frightening experience and my first reaction was to continue to drive on the rim until I reached the next exit. Thankfully, the next exit was close and while I sacrificed a rim in addition to my blown out tire; the stories of my past clients that had been seriously injured impacted my decision to not pull over to the side of the interstate. In that situation, it worked for me. Waiting to pull over at the next exit is not always an option. It is important to call emergency personnel should your car become disabled on a busy interstate. Emergency personnel would rather respond to your single car emergency than risk losing lives and serious injuries should other drivers not see you.
If you have been injured in an auto accident, truck accident or bus accident and you are wondering if you have a personal injury claim, you have nothing to lose by contacting a personal injury attorney. All personal injury attorneys I know offer a free initial consultation. Talking to an experienced attorney early after your accident helps protect your rights. An attorney will initiate an investigation, negotiate with the various insurance companies and ensure your financial interests are represented. Individuals that try to handle serious injury or wrongful death claims on their own with insurance companies usually find it to be overwhelming.
Do not sign anything from the insurance company until you have received medical treatment and know the extent of your injuries. And do not sign anything or give statements until you have discussed your situation with a qualified attorney.
